CrowdStrike Outage Causes Global Disruptions

Microsoft / CrowdStrike Outage Causes Global Disruptions: Airports, Banks, and More Affected

So, what’s going on with CrowdStrike? From what I’ve gathered, CrowdStrike rolled out an update that conflicted with Windows, causing many systems to crash with the dreaded Blue Screen of Death (BSOD). George Kurtz, CEO of CrowdStrike, mentioned that they’ve identified the issue and are working on a fix. But it looks like this is affecting a lot of endpoints globally.

Right now, many apps on my phone aren’t working, airports are down, and there’s even talk of the stock market being impacted. It’s a huge mess. The problem seems to be a conflict between a CrowdStrike update and the Windows OS, which is causing systems to crash before they even fully boot up.

For those impacted, the fix might involve rebooting to BIOS and rolling back any changes. Microsoft is stepping in to help resolve this. For many companies, this means a very long day ahead, restoring systems from backups and trying to get back online.

CrowdStrike is a major player in the Fortune 500 world, so this is hitting big companies hard. Smaller businesses may not be as affected since CrowdStrike’s market is typically larger enterprises due to their high costs. However, if your company is affected, we’d love to hear from you in the chat.

To all the IT folks dealing with this, hang in there. This is one of those tough days where the tools meant to protect us end up causing chaos. It’s a harsh reminder of the importance of rigorous testing and staged rollouts for updates.

We’re staying on top of this situation and informing our clients about potential slowdowns and access issues today. It’s important to communicate and manage expectations during these times. We’ll keep you updated as more information comes in.
